Gainesville Inlays & Onlays Dentist

Dealing with damaged teeth? We can help!

It’s not too late to strengthen and protect your teeth

Inlays and onlays are custom-made restorations used to repair teeth that are too damaged for a filling but not damaged enough to require a full crown. Often referred to as indirect fillings, they’re crafted outside the mouth and then bonded into place for a seamless, durable result.

At Alvorada Dentistry, our Gainesville inlays & onlays dentist can restore strength, shape, and function to teeth affected by decay, cracks, or old, failing fillings, all while preserving as much of your natural tooth as possible.

What’s the difference between inlays and onlays?

  • Inlays fit within the grooves of a tooth, similar to a traditional filling but with more strength and precision.
  • Onlays extend over one or more cusps (the raised points on your tooth) and are sometimes called “partial crowns.”

Both are excellent options for restoring molars and premolars, especially when aesthetics and long-term durability are important.

Frequently asked questions about inlays and onlays

When are inlays or onlays recommended?

They’re ideal for teeth with moderate decay, fractures, or worn fillings, especially when a traditional filling wouldn’t provide enough support, but a full crown would be too aggressive.

Is the procedure painful?

Not at all. The area will be numbed for comfort, and we use digital impressions and modern bonding techniques for a smooth, precise fit. Most patients experience little to no discomfort during or after treatment.

How long do they last?

With proper care, inlays and onlays can last 10 to 15 years or longer. They’re more durable than large fillings and are designed to handle the pressures of chewing.

Are they better than fillings?

In many cases, yes. For larger areas of damage or decay, our Gainesville inlays and onlays provide a stronger, longer-lasting solution compared to standard fillings.

Wonderful!!! I had not visited a dentist in 30 yrs…I had a bad experience in my early 20’s…these people changed my perception and I am completely sold. I am going to bring my wife and son over to these people. I do recommend these people…I really had a great experience!!!
